French Ambassador Visits Abu Qir Fertilizers Plants
On Wednesday, February 28, 2023, Eng. Abed Ezz El-Regal, Chairman and Managing Director of Abu Qir Fertilizers & Chemical Industries, welcomed a delegation from the French Embassy in Cairo, headed by Ambassador Marc Barety, along with representatives from the Industrial Pollution Abatement Program (EPAP), to learn about the company’s activities and its leading role in environmental protection.

At the beginning of the meeting, Eng. Abed Ezz El-Regal expressed his pleasure at the visit and presented the company’s capabilities and environmental projects, supported by EPAP. Through these investments, the company has enhanced its industrial wastewater treatment systems, significantly reducing pollution sources in both industrial effluents and fixed pollution sources in Abu Qir Bay.

The visit also highlighted the cooperation between France and the European Union mission in Egypt in supporting the sustainable growth of Egyptian industry, promoting environmental protection, biodiversity, and preserving the Mediterranean Sea as a shared natural resource.

It is noteworthy that the Industrial Pollution Abatement Program (EPAP) was launched in 1998 and is currently implemented by the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA) through the Environmental Protection Fund. The program, now in its third phase, is jointly funded by Europe, with support from France via the French Development Agency, the European Investment Bank, the German Development Bank, and the European Commission, with financing totaling over €325 million. More than 120 companies benefit from EPAP in implementing environmental protection measures.
