Indian Ambassador Visits Abu Qir Fertilizers Plants
Eng. Hany Dahy– former Minister of Transport and Chairman & Managing Director of Abu Qir Fertilizers and Chemical Industries Company – welcomed H.E. Mr. Suresh K. Reddy, Ambassador of the Republic of India to the Arab Republic of Egypt, along with the accompanying delegation, during a visit aimed at becoming acquainted with the company’s capabilities and its production and export potential. The visit also sought to explore avenues for joint cooperation between Abu Qir Fertilizers and Indian companies, including the export of fertilizers to India, the exchange and transfer of engineering expertise, as well as cooperation in the fields of fertilizers and green ammonia.
During the visit, the Indian Ambassador viewed a documentary film highlighting the history of Abu Qir Fertilizers and its pioneering role as one of the largest producers of nitrogen fertilizers in Egypt and the Middle East. The film also reviewed the company’s advanced production capacities, expansion plans, and current and future projects, particularly in the areas of environmental sustainability, energy efficiency, digital transformation, and the adoption of the latest industrial technologies in line with international standards.

In this context, Eng. Hany Dahy welcomed efforts to further strengthen cooperation with Indian fertilizer companies, noting the company’s commitment to openness toward global markets and the establishment of new strategic partnerships. He further pointed out that the company is currently implementing an ambitious strategic plan in cooperation with the global consulting firm McKinsey, aimed at reinforcing its position as a leading fertilizer company at both the regional and international levels.
He explained that the company’s strategic plan is based on achieving sustainable development, environmental compliance, and reducing the carbon footprint, increasing productivity, diversifying products, enhancing value added, and maximizing the efficiency of energy and resource utilization, in addition to adopting the latest industrial technologies. These efforts contribute to strengthening the company’s competitiveness, supporting the national economy, and aligning with Egypt’s orientation toward a green economy and Egypt Vision 2030.
For his part, the Indian Ambassador expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome, praising the advanced industrial capabilities and distinguished technical expertise of Abu Qir Fertilizers, and affirming his country’s interest in enhancing cooperation with leading Egyptian companies and supporting partnership opportunities.
At the end of the visit, commemorative shields and souvenirs were exchanged between the two sides as an expression of mutual appreciation.
